 "Dangerous goods" are materials or objects that due to their nature present a risk to health, security, belongings or the environment.

Regulated goods

The products below are subject to specific regulations (this list is non-exhaustive).




  • Food products of animal origin
    The introduction of meat, milk or products made using meat or milk into the European Union is subject to strict health import conditions. Obtain more information from your local health authorities.
  • Food oils
    Food oils are permitted in the cabin, and must be stored under the seat in front of you. They must be sealed in an airtight container respecting European mandatory safety measures (100 ml maximum in a transparent, resealable plastic bag).
    Food oils are also permitted in the hold, when sealed in an airtight container.
  • Perfumes and aerosols
    Authorized in the hold for a maximum weight of 2 kg o/2 l per person and 0.5 kg/ 0.5 l per item.
  • Syringes for medical use
    Authorized in the cabin with a medical prescription, you are responsible for them. Please do not leave them in the aircraft. A special container is available on request from the cabin crew.
  • Cartridges and hunting weapon ammunition
    These are authorized in the hold if correctly packaged in a rigid container.
    You can obtain further details from your Air France agency or your travel agency.
  • Knives, firearms (without ammunition) and any other similar items
    Only authorized for travel in the hold.

  • Liquids transported in the cabin
    New security measures have been released concerning articles prohibited in the cabin and the transportation of liquids. For more information, consult the heading "Transportation of liquids in the cabin".

Prohibited goods

For your safety, some articles are strictly prohibited on board. You must never have these in your possession or put them in your baggage.

  • Lighters and lighter fuel have been prohibited on flights to and from the United States since April 15, 2005. This rule is valid regardless of the way they function and their fuel.

  • Batteries with electrolytes.

  • Fireworks, firecrackers, colored Bengali lights, distress flares, imitation pistols, firelighters, tear gas.

  • Camping stoves, gas bottles, diving bottles.

  • Paint, varnish, lacquer.

  • Toxic materials, infectious materials, radioactive materials.

  • Chemical products, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides.

  • Paint removers, bleach, chlorine and detergent.

  • Flammable liquids such as fuel, thinner, solvent, acetone.

  • Mercury-based thermometers, barometers.
