On medium-haul flights in Europe, you can check-in once for a same-day round trip if you travel without luggage. This will eliminate the need for any check-in formalities when you return.

End-to-end check-in

If you have a connecting flight at Paris-Charles de Gaulle 2, you will receive all your boarding passes at once when you depart. You retain them until you have reached your final destination.Your baggage is also checked from end to end.

Self-Service Kiosks

How to use Self-Service Kiosks
Insert your Flying Blue card or a credit or debit card held in your name (even if the card was not used to pay for your ticket), or enter your electronic ticket number or reservation number. At certain kiosks, you can also identify yourself by scanning your passport.
Once the system has identified you:
  • the Self-Service Kiosk will retrieve your electronic ticket from our database,
  • you can confirm your seat or choose another seat on the cabin map,
  • the kiosk will print your boarding pass.
If you need to check in your baggage, simply take it to the baggage counter.
Practical information
With Self-Service Kiosks, you can also:
  • print a trip summary so that you carry the main information for your trip with you,
  • check in for your return flight, if it is scheduled within the 24 hours following your departure flight (this service is not available for La Navette flights),
  • choose a different flight time, if permitted by your fare conditions,
  • verify that your Flying Blue card number has been registered for your flight,
  • purchase additional baggage allowance* if necessary.
    * In France (including Cayenne and Fort-de-France).
You can check in using a Self-Service Kiosk:
  • on the day of your flight, up to the Check-In Deadline,

Check-in deadline

There is a check-in deadline for all Air France flights. You will not be able to board the plane after this time.

This deadline ensures your comfort and that of the other passengers :

  • you won't delay the flight
  • you avoid any unnecessary stress
  • you can select the best seat on the plane
  • you can do some shopping and relax before departure

Remember that passengers can bring only a single piece of hand luggage with them in the cabin and must carry some form of valid identification that contains a picture.

Feel free to consult these schedules to find out about any changes in
Air France check-in deadlines.

In Paris, breeze through passport control with PARAFES

You no longer have to wait in long lines before departure or upon arrival in the Schengen area. PARAFES, the automated fast-track crossing system at external Schengen borders, is a new, free service that will help you save time at passport control.

Once you have registered, all you need to do is present your passport at an automated kiosk and place your finger on the fingerprint reader in order to enter or leave the Schengen area.

This service is available for departures and arrivals in terminal 2E of Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport and will gradually be extended to Paris-Charles de Gaulle 1 and Paris-Orly airports, then all across France.

If your flight is overbooked

Like all the major airlines, Air France books more seats than are available on any given flight. Between 20 to 25 % of the passengers who have made a reservation do not show up for the flight they have booked. Overbooking enables us to maintain our attractive fares and to carry millions of additional passengers.

Air France attempts to limit the consequences for our passengers of overbooking by:

  • requesting that passengers voluntarily agree to change their flight
  • offering compensation

Air France was the first company to offer such compensation even if the voluntary passenger eventually leaves on the flight booked. Air France will also suggest rerouting passengers as soon as possible and will assume responsibility for any lodging expenses.
