Traveling with an infant
Reduced fares for infants
If traveling on an adult´s lap, infants under 2 years of age fly free of charge on domestic flights within France. On international flights, infants receive a 90% fare reduction. You also have the option of booking a seat for your infant (infant fare), where you may place a car seat that conforms to official regulations.
Please remember to let us know that you will be traveling with an infant when you book your trip.
Who may travel with an infant
On all flights, an infant must be accompanied by a passenger over the age of 18.
Exception: a passenger under 18 years of age can accompany an infant if he or she is the child's father, mother, or legal guardian.
Each passenger may accompany only one infant. To travel with 2 infants, a 2nd passenger is necessary.
Priority boarding
Families traveling with infants will receive priority at boarding time.
Practical advice
  • Prior to departure, remember to make sure that you have all the documents for infants that are required by the police, customs agents, and immigration officers of your destination country.
  • Travel is not recommended for infants in the 7 days following birth.
  • Avoid travel if your infant is ill.
  • If your infant is receiving medical treatment or suffers from travel sickness, remember to bring his or her medical record and medications.
  • Remember to bring the items necessary for changing your infant (diapers, wipes, etc.).
  • Opt for comfortable and warm clothing (sweaters and socks).
  • During take-off and landing, give your infant a pacifier, bottle, lollipop or a cookie in order to reduce possible earaches.
  • Bring enough bottles and food for the trip. Make sure that your infant drinks amply during the flight.
Strollers, bassinets, etc.
A parent traveling with an infant on his or her lap receives a special additional baggage allowance of 10 kg. In addition to this allowance, parents may also bring a fold-up stroller, bassinet, or car seat on flights to any destination.
On long-haul flights (except those to the Indian Ocean or to the Caribbean), a limited number of compact umbrella strollers (maximum dimensions when folded: 15 x 30 x 100 cm) may be transported in the cabin.
Meals and services
On flights of 2 ½ hours or more, a special meal, including cookies and jars of baby food, is available for your infant. You may also request a cradle on medium-haul flights (in the Affaires cabin) and long-haul flights (in the Affaires, Alizé, Premium Voyageur, and Voyageur cabins).* Please note: these cradles are designed for infants who weigh less than 10 kg and measure less than 70 cm. Changing tables are also available on long-haul flights.
Remember to request these items when booking your trip or purchasing your ticket, or at least 24 hours before your departure time.
* Cradles are not available in the La Première class.
Fun gifts
Infants will receive a set of gifts (brightly colored stuffed animals and toys) to liven up the trip and entertain them.

Traveling with a child between 2 and 11 years of age
Reduced fares
In certain cases, children accompanied by an adult can receive fare reductions of up to:
  • 50% on domestic flights,
  • 33% on medium- and long-haul flights.
Meals
On all flights of 2 ½ hours or more, children receive meals adapted to their tastes and needs. In addition, their meat or fish is pre-sliced for an easy-to-eat meal! Beginning at 9 years of age, children are served "like grown-ups". However, they may still opt for the children's menu if they wish. Remember to request the children's menu when booking your trip, purchasing your flight, or at least 24 hours before departure.
Gifts
During their flight, children will receive a set of gifts to make their trip enjoyable and fun. These gifts may include crayons, coloring books, games, and more.
On our long-haul flights, they can also listen to music channels, play video games, and watch cartoons or children's movies. Children have all they need for rest and entertainment!
Children's items may also be purchased through the onboard boutique: stuffed animals, inflatable airplanes, dolls, and more.
Pre-flight preparation
Most likely, your child will wish to bring along a small bag containing belongings. Prior to departure, consider helping pack familiar items that your child would like to have during flight, such as favorite books, stuffed animals, blanket, etc. In addition, remember to bring a piece of candy or chewing gum to help reduce possible earaches during take-off and landing.
