The 48 hour reflex
Reserving your trip by telephone at least 48 hours in advance is essential. This time period allows us to organize your trip in the best possible conditions of comfort and safety. Remember to specify the nature of your disability or your requirements when making your reservation.
- If you are traveling in a wheelchair: be sure to indicate the weight, size, battery type and all other useful information with regard to your wheelchair.
- If you need a wheelchair to get to and from the airport gate and the aircraft itself, as well as while inside the airport, but you are able to go up and down stairs and move around inside the aircraft cabin.
- If you cannot go up or down stairs. If you need a wheelchair to get to and from the airport gate and the aircraft itself, as well as while inside the airport, but you can move around inside the aircraft cabin.
- If you need help upon arrival at the airport right up until you are seated in the aircraft. You need a wheelchair, and once in the cabin, you need the onboard transfer chair to move around.
- If you need respiratory assistance during the flight: indicate this upon reserving at least 48 hours prior to departure (and 5 days prior to departure from the United States). In the event of a cancellation less than 24 hours prior to departure, Air France will not be able to refund any additional seat(s) reserved.
- Your vision is impaired or you are hard of hearing: you are given assistance for the entire duration of your flight. If you would like special assistance upon arrival at the airport, please do not hesitate to make this request when making your reservation.
- If you have to follow a specific diet.

Medical consent
A medical consent form may be requested from you upon reservation, in particular, if:
- you are ill or have recently been operated on,
- you need care during the flight or respiratory assistance,
- your state of health may deteriorate during the trip or compromise the smooth duration of the flight,
- you are mentally handicapped and are unaccompanied.
The procedure to follow to obtain a medical consent form is simple: 1. Your general practitioner fills outa medical information form, known in France as a MEDIF 2. To obtain consent, the doctor sends this form: - to Air France´s medical division, if you reside in France: Air France - Service Médical 148 avenue de l´Université 75007 Paris - France - to the local Air France doctor, if you reside in any other country. 3. The medical service decides if you are able to travel and approves or declines the certificate. |

Personal attendant
For your safety and comfort, you must be accompanied if you cannot carry out certain movements such as: fastening or unfastening your seatbelt, using the oxygen mask, and on long-haul flights, eating your meal and being able to care for yourself in the washroom.
Your personal attendant must be an adult (minimum 18 years of age) and able to care for themselves. If this is not the case, please specify this when making your reservation.
In the case of a mental disability, you may travel without medical consent if you are accompanied.
For their safety, children under the age of 12: - who are physically disabled may travel unaccompanied on domestic flights, but must be accompanied on international flights, - who have a mental disability must be accompanied on all flights.
You and your personal attendant can take advantage of fare discounts on: - all mainland France domestic flights, - Air France flights between Paris and Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Cayenne and Saint-Denis de la Réunion.
These reductions are given: - upon presentation of disability card or Fremec card with the wording “mandatory attendant”, - if Air France requests that you are accompanied in order to travel. |

The Saphir service
Saphir is a free reservation service dedicated to reduced mobility passengers for all flights from mainland France to the French overseas territories and vice-versa.
- An information and reservation service
Saphir agents are at your disposal if you wish to: - get information about the procedures to follow and to take advantage of reduced rates, - make reservations which take into account any specific requirements. - The Saphir card
If you travel regularly, we suggest you request this card from our Saphir service. It is personal, free-of-charge, and allows our Saphir agents to identify you immediately the next time you make reservations. It allows us to offer you services tailored to your needs, at every step of your trip. Valid for 5 years, the Saphir card can be used on all Air France routes. - Home/airport transportation
In partnership with Kéolis, the Saphir service offers you transfers between your home and the airport (at departure and upon arrival) in appropriate vehicles. This service is available at the airports of Lyon Saint Exupéry, Paris Charles de Gaulle 2 and Paris Orly. You receive a 10% reduction upon presentation of your Saphir card.
