These new safety measures apply for all flights departing from or transferring via any of the 27 EU member countries (including French overseas departments and territories), whatever their destination, as well as for flights departing from many other countries.
The following are considered as liquids: gels, semi-solid materials, lotions and the contents of pressurized containers such as: toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfumes, shaving foam, aerosols and all other articles of similar consistency.
1 - Obtain a transparent plastic bag that can be resealed (for example, a freezer bag) with a capacity of one liter (30 floz) maximum (size around 20cm x 20cm / 7,5 inch x 8 inch). Only one bag of this type is authorized per passenger.
2 - Place in this bag all liquids and similar products of which each container must not exceed 100 ml (3 floz) maximum.
3 - All other containers of a larger capacity must be properly protected and placed in your checked baggage.
Air France offers travel bags designed to carry liquids inside the cabin in accordance with security standards. Find them in “Luggage & leather goods” at eshopping.airfrance.fr (delivery available in an increasing number of countries).
Exceptions:
Foodstuffs and medical substances that are essential to health which are not covered by these restrictions.
However, the safety officer may ask you to justify what they are (possibly by tasting them).
- Foodstuffs:
specific nutritional foodstuffs without which you are unable to travel (for example in the event of lactose or gluten allergies, etc.),
baby food.
- Pharmaceutical products:
medicine prescribed by a doctor: at the safety officer´s request, you must be able to justify the need to take this medicine (prescription, medical certificate, in your name, etc.), drug products that are not prescribed by a doctor, bought in a pharmacy or shop. (For this type of product, carry-on conditions may be more restrictive, since they are not considered as "vital").
If your first flight arrives from a country within the European Union and your second flight departs from a European airport (including Norway, Iceland and Switzerland):
You can make in-flight purchases or buy in airport shops. These purchases will be made secure in a sealed plastic bag and must remain so until the end of your trip.
If your first flight arrives from a country outside the European Union and your second flight departs from a European airport (including Norway, Iceland and Switzerland):
Purchases made in airport shops outside the European Union will be confiscated at the security check during your transfer.
- Onboard purchases:
If you made an onboard purchase in an aircraft belonging to a European airline departing from an airport located outside the European Union, it will be accepted when you transfer into a European Union country, provided it is placed in a sealed bag accompanied by the proof of onboard purchase.
