1. Why is Flying Blue programme changing?
Flying Blue is reviewing its rules to strengthen its focus as a loyalty programme. Being a frequent flyer loyalty programme, Flying Blue is committed to rewarding its active clients. If you are a Flying Blue member, your Award Miles are valid for life. The only condition is that you take a flight* at least every 20 months with AIR FRANCE, KLM or one of the SkyTeam partner airlines. For information, all AIR FRANCE and KLM flights give you the right to earn Award Miles. So a Mile earned today can be used tomorrow, in one year, two years, or even 20 years. Also, new rules have been put in place so that earning Miles better reflects the fare paid according to the cabin class and the flexibility of your ticket. * on a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation
2. When will the new rules come in to force?
The new rules will apply from 1 April 2009. All Award Miles earned before August 2007 will expire in April 2009, except if you have taken a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation with AIR FRANCE, KLM or any of the SkyTeam partners. This rule applies to all members of Flying Blue Ivory, regardless of the date that their programme membership commenced and applies to all Award Miles, regardless of the date they were earned.
3. When will the Miles expiry rule affect me?
From 1 April 2009, if you haven't taken a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation within the previous 20 months, your Award Miles will be subject to the new Miles expiry rule defined at the end of 2008. Exceptionally, Flying Blue does however give you the chance to get your Award Miles back. To do that, you must take a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation with one of the SkyTeam partner airlines before 30 September 2009. The expired Award Miles will be re-credited to your account after your flight.
4. Which activities will let me extend the validity of my Miles?
To extend the validity of your Award Miles simply: - Take a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation with AIR FRANCE, KLM, Air Europa, Kenya Airways or Aircalin at least every 20 months. - Take a flight with a paid ticket allowing Miles accumulation with any of our SkyTeam partners at least every 20 months. Flights made with partner airlines which are not members of SkyTeam as well as activities with non-airline partners do not allow you to extend the validity of your Award Miles. You can find details about the Miles Accumulation scheme on the Flying Blue section of AIR FRANCE, KLM, Air Europa, Kenya Airways and Aircalin websites.
5. Can I extend the validity of my Miles by using my American Express card?
If you make purchases with the AIR FRANCE KLM American Express Gold card / AIR FRANCE KLM American Express Silver card (reserved for residents of France and Monaco) or the Flying Blue American Express card (reserved for residents of The Netherlands), the validity of your Award Miles will be extended.

8. I have tried to make a reservation but there is no availability
Flying Blue offers you many ways in which to use your Award Miles in exchange for flights. A new booking tool for Award Tickets has been available for several months on the Web. If you are a member of Flying Blue Elite, you benefit from exclusive access to selected Award Tickets. And if you wish to travel during a busy period, you can use a Flex Award, for double the amount of Award Miles of a Classic Award in the same cabin.

As a Flying Blue member, you can maintain your Award Miles for life, simply by taking one flight* every 36 months on AIR FRANCE, KLM, Air Europa, Kenya Airways or Aircalin, or on any SkyTeam member.
